Optima at this year’s Mental Health World Cup
Optima was proud to take part in this year’s Mental Health World Cup, an event that brings people from across the construction industry together to raise awareness of mental health and generate vital funds for support charities.
This year, Optima was represented at two events, with our Installation team taking part in London and colleagues from our Northern team and supply chain representing us in Liverpool.
In London, the team, led by Dan Crowley, went unbeaten in the group stages and finished with a 4–0 win. Despite narrowly missing out on progression on goal difference, it was a strong performance and a great day for everyone involved.
The players were also supported throughout the day by colleagues from Installation, Major Works, Central Services and Products, creating a real sense of support around the team.
Dan Crowley said:
“It is a pleasure for Optima to be part of the MHWC again. It was a great day on the pitch raising awareness around mental health and wellbeing in the construction industry. Great shift put in by the team and great to see so much support for the cause.”

Our team in Liverpool also enjoyed a successful day, with colleagues coming together to support the event and the wider message behind it.
Senior Specification Manager Andrea Glenister said:
“The day was a great success with so many teams entering. It was very well organized and there were quite a few local people there supporting the charity and sharing their own stories.
“It is so important to promote this charity in our industry as it affects so many people. We were very happy to sponsor the event and we look forward to it next year.”
While there was plenty of competition on the pitch, the importance of the Mental Health World Cup goes far beyond the football.
The event creates an opportunity for people across the industry to come together, talk openly about mental health and support organizations working to make a difference. With 100% of proceeds going directly to charities, it is a cause Optima is proud to continue supporting.
Play football. Stand against suicide.
