A factory shaped by continuous improvement
Our UK manufacturing facility in Radstock brings together the people, processes and production capability behind Optima’s partitioning and door systems. Continual investment in equipment, digital processes and skills keeps manufacturing closely connected with our design and engineering teams. Built on decades of practical manufacturing experience, the facility continues to develop alongside the systems we produce.
In-house capability
Radstock brings together aluminum machining, steel fabrication, powder coating and door and component assembly, helping coordinate key stages of manufacture within one facility.
Connected production
Design and manufacturing teams work closely, using approved digital information and data to move projects into production and resolve technical queries quickly.
Continual improvement
Manufacturing processes are regularly reviewed and refined, supported by ongoing investment in equipment, technology and production systems.

From machining to final assembly
Manufacturing at Radstock covers multiple stages of the production process. Aluminum profiles are cut and machined using CNC equipment, while dedicated facilities support steel fabrication, finishing and assembly. Optima also operates its own powder-coating line, allowing components to be finished within the manufacturing facility.
As products move through production, manufacturing information and inspection records support traceability at key stages. Components and finished assemblies are checked before progressing through the factory and ultimately being prepared for delivery to site.

Manufacturing with less impact
Improving how we manufacture also means looking at the resources used throughout production. Our environmental management system provides the framework for reviewing areas including material use, waste, energy and manufacturing processes.
This includes the use of aluminum containing high levels of post-consumer recycled content within selected Optima systems, the recovery of machining waste for recycling and ongoing review of production processes to identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact. This work forms part of Optima’s wider approach to embodied carbon, responsible sourcing and operational emissions.

Built under closer scrutiny
Continual improvement in the factory often comes down to small changes that strengthen quality control. One example is the use of bright white inspection lighting around door assembly, creating conditions that make internal marks, dirt or surface imperfections easier to identify before the product leaves the factory.
The lighting is deliberately more revealing than the conditions the door will typically experience once installed. By checking each door under greater visual scrutiny during manufacture, the team has a better opportunity to identify and address issues before delivery, supporting a consistently high standard of finish.
